Obama’s ‘Moms Return to School’ Government Grant Scholarship
Are you aware that the Obama administration is committed to assisting single moms to return to school? So many moms are simply not aware that the Obama’s ‘Moms Return to School’ Government Grant Scholarship is available to them however you should find out all you can about this opportunity as there are many benefits for you!
Even though the economy is not so great at the moment, it is looking up and the worst is behind us. It is a great time for moms to consider college or university study. You will be in great demand as you’ll have the skills and qualifications needed for a capable workforce: something that employers will be looking for.
You will be in the best possible position to get the job that YOU have always wanted! And the best part is that scholarships don’t have to be paid back, unlike student loans.
Here are some facts about the federal government scholarship and grants available to moms and all women:
Federal Pell Grant
Obama has raised the amount of the Federal Pell Grant up to $5100 instead of $4050. He may even raise it more soon. So if you are a single mom, working mom or stay at home mom then this is simply one of the best ways to have your college education paid for.
How to Apply
You can apply for the scholarship by selecting a college or university which is holding the course or program that you wish to study. You simply then fill out the deferral FAFSA form and submit it.
Studying Moms get Tax Benefits
If you are a mother who is studying at college or university then you can take advantage of the excellent American Opportunity Tax Credit program which lets you get your first $4000 of higher education absolutely free. This coupled with your scholarship means that you really aren’t spending any money at all!
Online Study and Scholarships
You can apply for Obama’s ‘Moms Return to School’ Government Grant Scholarship program if you wish to study via online education. This is often the best choice for moms who can’t or don’t want to leave the family at home in order to go and study at a campus.
So give it a go and see if you qualify for Obama’s moms scholarships and grants.
At the same time, you can apply for other mom scholarships as these are perfectly suited for your situation as a busy mom who needs financial assistance for study. All I can say is – go for it!

My name is Lorraine and I am the founder of a nonprofit that helps students and parents to find college aid called Scholarship Sharing. We are a small student and volunteer run organization based in Richmond, Virginia. We host webinars, annual Scholarship Fairs, award scholarships ourselves, and have an awesome scholarship database. If you want to learn more about our programs you can visit http://www.scholarshipsharing.org
Everything we do is completely free because we are a student operated, and host all of our programs from donation from the community. We are dedicated to helping others getting connected to college aid. I personally started the foundation because I graduated debt free from my undergraduate and post baccalaureate degree programs. With so many people posting on this forum I figured this might be a great starting point for you 🙂 Hope you like our website!

Hi, I am trying to find out if my wife is eligible for any kind of grant or student loan to return to school. She is 52 yrs old, and the mother of our two boys, ages 19 and 21, both attending college. She has been a real estate appraiser for appr 15 to 20 yrs, but since the law has changed recently, she is no longer able to practice any more because she has to be certified now, which means she has to take approx. 7 or 8 college classes, so we obviously can’t afford that now, with her working at a retail store instead. Is there any program that could help pay for these classes out there right now? Any info would be greatly appreciated.
Thank You
John B.
It’s appropriate time to make a few plans for the future and
it’stime to be happy. I have read this publish and if I
could I wish to counsel you few attention-grabbing things or advice.
Perhaps you can write next articles referring to this article.
I want to learn more issues about it!
You are correct of course, the “Obama scholarship” is simply a term that many people have used in regards to Federal financial aid. This site is all about leading them to the correct resources in order to find that aid. Thank you for your comment!
There is no “Obama Scholarship” for mothers. Maybe you saw/heard some ad mentioning financial aid for higher eduction for mothers. That was just a come-on to some web page that probably does not offer any useful information.
There is Federal financial aid for which all current & potential college/university students can apply & be evaluated if they are in a low enough economic bracket to qualify – the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid – http://www.fafsa.ed.gov ) If you are now a college/univ. student, or if you are planning on enrolling at a college/univ. this next Fall (2012), or are considering applying to & enrolling at a college/univ. this Fall & need more help with & info about the FAFSA (which is just an application), I recommend you pick up the phone, call the Financial Aid Office of the school you are attending/want to attend & learn more about the FAFSA from a school financial aid adviser.
There are some good sources for searching for scholarships ear-marked just for women who may also be mothers.
I think is the best, most reliable scholarship database is Scholarship Search, offered by the well-respected College Board:
* https://bigfuture.collegeboard.org/schol…
Click on the Start button.
If you choose to register (free – registration is not required to use Scholarship Search) so you may return later & modify your search strategy, feel secure that you will not receive spam emails. Don’t select too many defining terms in your search strategy, which may result in a poor scholarship search result.
Many other scholarship search web sites are mostly for contests and require registration to use, resulting in a lot of spam email being sent to those who register. I don’t recommend them.
If you are a single parent, this About.com article (2 web pages) lists some scholarships by state for single parents:
* http://singleparents.about.com/od/adulte…
Many colleges/universities* have scholarship/grant funds (funds that do not need to be repaid) for just their own students. Some may be just for women (mothers or not.) You can call the Fin. Aid Office of the school(s) you wish to attend & ask about scholarships or look for info about them on the schools’ Financial Aid web pages.
*By colleges/universities I mean: local taxing district funded community colleges, state government funded colleges & universities, and private & independent non-profit colleges/universities (not to be confused with for-profit/career/proprietary colleges, which first and foremost are businesses with the main focus of earning profits for their shareholders.)
Please be aware that if you are looking for scholarship money to help fund your college/univ. costs for the 2012-2013 school year, starting Fall 2012, the application deadlines for many scholarships have passed or are coming up very soon. You may have to start thinking about applying for scholarship consideration for the 2013-2014 school year.
Many other students will be applying for the same scholarships & only a few or maybe just 1 will be awarded. Please do not pin all your hopes of higher education financing on being awarded enough scholarship/grant funds to cover all your college expenses. Most students of any age, parents or not, need to have some funds they have saved to apply to college/univ. expenses & need to take out loans (Federally funded student loans – not private student loans.).
Unsolicited advice
If the school you are attending/want to attend is a for-profit/career/proprietary college/univ. (one that advertises a lot on daytime & late night TV & on the Internet – some advertise about online-only courses/taking classes at home via your computer while wearing PJs), then please be very cautious & research the school very carefully. Some for profit schools are fine; some are not. A reference librarian at your local public library can help you find good evaluations of any college/univ. Go to your public library & talk with a librarian.
When you go to the public library to research the school/s that interest you, ask a librarian to help you find these books to check out & look thru:
